The most recent expansion came into effect on December 31, 2021, with opening of the initial sections of Lines 11, 17 and 19, and six other extensions on existing lines. The Beijing Subway is the rapid transit system of Beijing Municipality that consists of 25 lines including 20 rapid transit lines, two airport rail links, one maglev line and 2 light rail lines, and 459 stations.
